Lake Manyara National Park
Lake Manyara National Park, nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, is one of Tanzania’s most picturesque safari destinations. Known for its breathtaking landscapes and diverse ecosystems, the park offers everything from groundwater forests and acacia woodlands to vast floodplains. The shallow alkaline Lake Manyara itself attracts large flocks of flamingos and other waterbirds, creating a spectacular scene against the backdrop of the Rift Valley cliffs.
Wildlife lovers will be amazed by the park’s richness. It is famous for its tree-climbing lions, large herds of elephants, and abundant wildlife such as giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, hippos, and baboons. Birdwatching is exceptional here, with over 400 species recorded. Despite its compact size, the park provides an unforgettable safari experience, perfect for day trips or as part of a northern Tanzania safari circuit.
