Arusha National Park

Arusha National Park is one of Tanzania’s most diverse and underrated safari destinations, located just a short drive from Arusha town. Though smaller than many other parks, it offers an incredible variety of landscapes, from lush rainforests and open savannahs to the striking Ngurdoto Crater and the scenic Momella Lakes. The park is home to a wide range of wildlife, including giraffes, zebras, buffalos, bushbucks, warthogs, and the rare black-and-white colobus monkeys. Birdwatchers will also be delighted, as the Momella Lakes attract flamingos and over 400 bird species. One of the park’s unique highlights is the opportunity for a walking safari with an armed ranger, allowing visitors to experience the wilderness up close. Canoeing on the Momella Lakes and viewing Mount Meru, Tanzania’s second-highest mountain, add to the park’s charm. Whether for a day trip or as part of a longer northern circuit safari, Arusha National Park is a must-visit destination for those seeking variety, tranquility, and authentic wildlife encounters.
